.. and no, that isn't a reflection on the portion sizes.. I just love this place!
Don't go along expecting a typical British Indian cuisine like you'd get in all other Leeds restaurants, as Tharavadu is a stand out individual venue serving Kerala cuisine from South India.
Don't look on the menu for jalfrezi or dhansak as you won't find it! Instead you'll find a whole range of alternative choices, with something for everyone of all tastes. Don't let this put you off going, just have a chat with the friendly team in here about what type of tastes you like and they'll be sure to give you fantastic suggestions.
Whether you're a veggie or not, I heartily recommend trying out the Chilli Paneer - or alternative was the delicious Mutta Roast, which is a boiled egg dish with a tasty sauce.
Now when it comes to the main course I'm restricted to the chicken or veggie dishes, but this doesn't leave me disappointed with choices here as there's still a great range for me - with the Kerala Kozhi Curry or Konkani Kozhi Dosha being the favourites.
The venue itself is spacious, so no matter how busy it is (and it's always packed out whenever I've attended - a testament in itself to how amazing the food & quality is) you don't feel like you're crammed in. Staff are really friendly & interested in making sure you enjoy the food - while people are still new to this Kerala tastes they're keen to make sure you get the best dish for your tastes.
It's also at a really competitive price range, so if you fancy trying something new without breaking the bank - Tharavadu is the place for you.
